Other Site Characteristics

Le site est constitué de vallées encaissées, les versants sud sont porteurs d'une végétation riche en plantes thérmophiles qui se distingue clairement des profils de végétation présents sur les versants nord. Les fortes pentes garantissant une certaine quiétude et la variété écologique présente constitue des habitats propice à une flore et une faune rare et variée. Le risque le plus important sur ce site est la fermeture des milieux ouverts. l'entretien des landes sèches par fauchage ou par remise en place d'un pâturage est un objectif. Le site est potentiellement exposé à la coupe rase de ses hêtraies et à la suppression des haies encore présentes dans le bocage.

4.2 Quality and importance

La Creuse, dans cette partie de son cours (entre Anzème et la Celle Dunoise), coule dans une vallée profondément encaissée où les gorges ont en moyenne 50 à 80m de profondeur. Du point de vue géologique, la plus grande partie des gorges est creusée dans le granite et l'essentiel de la végétation est constitué de bois de pentes, interrompus au niveau des zones rocheuses par des landes sèches. Ensemble complémentaire du site d'intérêt communautaire de la vallée de la Creuse, il contribue au maitien d'une continuité écologique sur le cours de la creuse. Le site est aussi porteur de plusieurs stations d'espèces végétales protégées en Limousin.
