4 ensembles de gîtes : - Gîtes de Saint Nectaire (11 cavités thermales artificielles, 1 bâtiment : plusieurs gîtes d'hivernage et de reproduction ) - Gîtes de Montaigut-le-Blanc (196 caves, 3 anciens ponts et 1 bâtiment : plusieurs gîtes d'hivernage et de reproduction) - Gîtes de Champeix (5 caves, 11 cavités artificielles , 1 bâtiment abandonné) - Gîte d'Ardes sur Couze, Eglise et bâtiments La superficie totale du site après étude (territoire de chasse ou de transit compris) représente 1266 Ha. Risque de destruction des gîtes (réfections, aménagements..) Abandon (éboulements)

4.2 Quality and importance

3 sous-ensemble (Gîtes de Champeix, gîtes de Saint Nectaire, gîtes de Montaigut-le-blanc) sont dans la même vallée (Couze/Chambon), d'où échange de population. Site très diversifié avec près de 16 espèces pour 1700 individus. Plus important site du Puy-de-Dôme. Plus important site pour la reproduction de la Barbastelle en Auvergne. Plus important site français pour la reproduction du Murin de Daubenton (398 individus) Plus importante concentration de Rhinolophes de la région Auvergne
