Other Site Characteristics

Gorges calcaires encaissées et bordures de plateaux. La surfréquentation des falaises nuit aux chiroptères (dégradation de leurs lieux de reproduction et d'hibernation...). Les milieux ouverts sont sujets à l'embroussaillement.

4.2 Quality and importance

Le site présente une mosaïque de milieux particulièrement intéressants : formations rupicoles de gorges encaissées, pelouses sèches, forêts mélangées de ravins (Ste-Maxime), etc. Autant de milieux qui autorisent la présence de colonies de chiroptères. Ce site abrite une des trois colonies mixtes de Provence : Petit Murin, Minioptère et Murin de Capaccini, ce qui traduit la préservation de la qualité des milieux naturels et l'importance des ressources alimentaires. Présence de colonies d'importance nationale à internationale, notamment pour le Murin de Capaccini (30 % de la population reproductrice nationale).
