Other Site Characteristics

A calcareous lake between bare mountains. Important for birds of the wetland are the extensive reed beds dominated by Phragmites australis. Also, rooted submerged and floating vegetation (Potamogeton spp., Vallisneria spiralis, Najas marina, Myriophyllum spicatum, Polygonum amphibium etc.) occupy shallow waters. There is an area of archaeological interest near Petron lake.
