Other Site Characteristics

The turkey oak - sessile oak woodland is the last remnant of the last natural woodland community, the original populations were almost completely replaced with cultivated plantation. A part of the turkey oak - sessile oak woodland belongs to Sitke, being since 1975 a protected natural area of local importance.

4.2 Quality and importance

Kiemelt fontosságú cél a következő fajok/élőhelytípusok kedvező természetvédelmi hely-zetének fenntartása: Élőhelyek: (magyar név, kód): Pannon cseres-tölgyesek 91M0 The turkey oak - sessile oak woodland being northward from Sitke is a saved spot of the old forests of Kemeneshát. Its importance is provided by the asphodel-oak community. The asphodel (Asphodelus albus) is a rare, protected species of South-western Transdanubia. The northern border of its spread is in these turkey oak - sessile oak woodlands. The old, thinning oak woodlands' rare insect species are the Cerambyx credo and the Lucanus cervus. The valuable habitats of the nearby Hercseg Mountain are the slope steppes, the Crataego-Cerasetum fruticosae communities, white oak shrub woodlands and the ravine and slope woodlands. Unfortunately, these communities are in fragments on the mountain, their preservation is an urgent task. The valuable plants of the slope steppes are the locally rare Pulsatilla grandis and the Adonis vernalis, which is important from plant geography aspects. At the rock break-through places the Asplenium adiantum-nigrum occurs. In the abandoned mines a secondary rock grassland vegetation established.

Általános célkitűzések: A Natura 2000 terület természetvédelmi célkitűzése az azon található, a kijelölés alapjául szolgáló fajok és élőhelytípusok kedvező természetvédelmi helyzetének megőrzése, fenntartása, helyreállítása, valamint a Natura 2000 területek lehatárolásának alapjául szolgáló természeti állapot és a kedvező természetvédelmi állapottal összhangban lévő gazdálkodás feltételeinek biztosítása. Az Öregcser-erdő pannon cseres-tölgyes erdőállományai helyén felújított, részben jellegtelenné vált tölgyes élőhelyek visszaalakítása, természetvédelmi helyzetének helyreállítása. Specifikus célok: A speciális termőhelyi adottságokhoz igazodva, természetszerű, nagy diverzitású, elegyfajokban bővelkedő cseres-tölgyes erdővé alakítani, illetve engedni alakulni a je-lenlegi, nagyrészt fiatal állományokat. Az elegyfajok egyedeinek (pl. gyertyán, mezei juhar, hársak, szilek, cseresznye) foko-zott kímélete az ápolás, tisztítás és gyérítés során. A természetszerű állapotú tölgyes részletek esetleges akác elegyének visszaszorítása. A vadlétszám csökkentése a természetes vadeltartóképesség üzemtervben rögzített szintjére. A vörös tölgyesek (Sitke 18A, 20B) és erdei fenyves (Sitke19B, 20C) állományok fo-kozatos átalakítása cseres-tölgyesekké. The asphodel-oak communities can be opened in small areas, in order to ensure the habitat for photophilous species. On the slope steppes, the scything is the appropriate treatment. There is no need to perform this activity in each year, its role is to prevent the shrub colonisation.
