Area umida artificiale con zone di macchia e boscaglia.

4.2 Quality and importance

L'area permetterebbe di tutelare i residui di zone umide artificiali ancora presenti lungo il corso del Tanaro (tratto cuneese), che svolgono un importante ruolo come sito di sosta e di alimentazione per gli uccelli migratori. Importante la presenza di una colonia di sterna comune composta da 10-15 coppie, una delle poche ormai rimaste in provincia di Cuneo e di una popolazione di Triturus carnifex, specie di Allegato II 92/43/CEE.
