Other Site Characteristics

L'area denominata ZPS in base alla direttiva 79/409/CEE "Uccelli" comprende il vallone del Comboè, il vallone des Laures, il vallone di Clavalité, la comba d'Orsière e i SIC "Vallone dell'Urtier", "Vallone del Grauson", "Ambienti d'alta quota del Vallone della Legna", "Parco Naturale del Mont Avic"; marginalmente confina con il Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso

4.2 Quality and importance

L'area presenta dal punto di vista floristico relitti glaciali,endemismi alpici e specie indicate dal libro rosso nazionale e regionale;le torbiere individuate offrono ambienti ricchi di specie boreali rare o in via di estinzione nelle alpi. Viene segnalata inoltre, nel SIC del "Parco Naturale Mont Avic", la presenza di un nucleo interno di popolamento di Faggio al limite climatico del suo areale e, sempre relativamente all'area suddetta, la dominanza del bosco a Pino Uncinato che sostituisce quasi completamente le foreste normalmente diffuse in questo settore delle Alpi. Dal punto di vista faunistico segnaliamo la presenza di 13 specie di uccelli elencati nell'Allegato I della Direttiva 79/409/CEE e nella zona del Vallone di Dondena una consistente presenza di ungulati di montagna(stambecchi e camosci).
