Other Site Characteristics

La fascia costiera si presenta rocciosa e bassa con tratti di spiaggia e strutture tettoniche evidenti. Affiorano terreni appartenenti all'unità del M. Gottero (torbiditi arenacee a cui seguono scisti zonati). L'area rientra nel Parco Naturale regionale delle Cinque Terre ex L.R. n°12 del 18/3/85, L.R. 50/19/12/1989 e successive modificazioni. L'area è inoltre vincolata ex legge 1497/39 ante legge n°431/85 e con D.D.M.M. 24/4/1985.

4.2 Quality and importance

Promontorio prevalentemente arenaceo, con evidenti contrasti di vegetazione tra i versanti meridionali e settentrionali. Lungo la costa è presente una grotta marina. Il sito ospita habitat e specie prioritari per la direttiva 92/43 CEE. In buon stato di conservazione sono la macchia e il bosco di Quercus ilex e Quercus suber, specie, quest'ultima, relativamente rara e prossima al limite settentrionale. Significativa è la presenza di Euphorbia biumbellata, specie rara e al limite nord-orientale dell'areale. Numerose sono le specie di licheni considerate rare o in via di rarefazione a livello nazionale. Diverse sono le specie protette ai sensi di direttive/convenzioni internazionali e gli endemiti. La conformazione geografica del sito favorisce un suo utilizzo da parte di specie ornitiche nel corso delle migrazioni. Nel sito è presente Gonepterix cleopatra, specie indicatrice che è stata proposta dalla Regione Liguria per linserimento nellallegato II. Il sito ha anche un notevole valore paesaggistico che apporta un discreto flusso turistico.
