Other Site Characteristics

Zona di crinale con aree pianeggianti in quota e pendenze molto modeste per la presenza di forme a terrazzo. A N e a S sono presenti estesi affioramenti rocciosi. Il substrato geologico è dato da ofioliti e da argille a palombini dell'unità del M. Gottero. Il sito originariamente facente parte dell'area cornice dell'Area Protetta "Monte Serro-Punta Mesco" è ora compreso nel Parco Naturale Regionale delle "Cinque Terre".

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito rappresenta una delle aree di maggior diffusione e particolarmente idonea alla conservazione di Santolina ligustica, specie endemica a distribuzione estremamente ridotta (proposta per l'inclusione nell'All. II della Direttiva comunitaria). Sono presenti anche interessanti aspetti ofioliticoli di pseudogariga con Genista salzmanni, habitat proposti dalla Regione Liguria per l'inclusione nell'All. I della direttiva comunitaria. Il sito ospita anche habitat prioritari ed endemiti di rilevante interesse.
