Other Site Characteristics

L'area è caratterizzata dalla presenza di due vette separate da una valle incassata. Sono presenti serpentiniti, brecce, gabbri, brecce di gabbro, alternati a una copertura sedimentaria formata da radiolariti, calcare a calpionelle, argille a palombini. Presenza di un rimboschimento a pino nero di circa 60 anni. Il substrato in prevalenza ofiolitico ha scarsa permeabilità.

4.2 Quality and importance

Le discrete condizioni del bosco e le tendenze verso consorzi misti di conifere e latifoglie indicano l'importanza dell'area e soprattutto la necessità di interventi di selvicoltura attuati con criteri naturalistici, tesi comunque al raggiungimento della disetaneità delle conifere. La presenza di ofioliti permette la presenza di specie relativamente rare, legate a questi substrati. E presente un endemita di particolare interesse. Il sito contiene un habitat proposto dalla Regione Liguria per inserimento nellallegato I della direttiva CEE 92/43.
