4.2 Quality and importance

Le pareti rocciose fortemente acclivi caratterizzano l'aspetto paesaggistico e condizionano la vegetazione. La foresta è prevalentemente di latifoglie ma non mancano le aghifoglie in nuclei localizzati. La flora rupicola ha una forte presenza di specie endemiche e di grande interesse botanico. La diversità floristica è alta. L'area presenta un'erpetocenosi tipica delle zone montane, escludendo, considerata l'altitudine, le specie tipiche degli orizzonti alpino e subalpino. Si segnala la presenza potenziale di Bombina variegata. Le caratteristiche dell'habitat determinano condizioni mediamente favorevoli alla presenza di specie dell'avifauna tipiche della zona montano-alpina. A livello di potenzialità si segnalano altri elementi significativi quali, ad esempio, Astore, Rondone maggiore, Picchio nero e rondine montana. Si contano 54 specie nidificanti. Il popolamento teriologico è ben diversificato, in particolare per le componenti degli Insettivori e dei Chirotteri. Tra i Carnivori si segnala la presenza della Martora.
