Other Site Characteristics

Area adiacente a impianti turistici e di risalita, prevalentemente occupata da torbiere acide, intermedie e basse. Sono presenti molte pozze circolari, originate dall'esplosione di granate durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale, numerose sorgenti e percolazioni che danno origine a un cospicuo reticolo di ruscelli. Sui versanti più acclivi crescono cespuglieti ad Alnus viridis e consorzi ad alte erbe alternati a cespuglieti di Rhododendron ferrugineum e lembi di prateria acidofila (nardeti) che, unitamente alle zone umide, danno origine a un variegato mosaico vegetazionale.

4.2 Quality and importance

Sito di elevata importanza geobotanica sia per la varietà e vastità del mosaico vegetazionale igrofilo sia per la presenza di molte specie rare, quali Andromeda polifolia, Vaccinium microcarpum, Carex lasiocarpa, Scheuchzeria palustris, Dactylorhiza cruenta, Lycopodiella inundata e Utricularia minor. Gli aspetti vegetazionali di maggior rilievo sono costituiti da ampi lembi di torbiera intermedia sparsi in tutta l'area e da piccoli lembi di saliceto misto, di saliceto a S. foetida e S. helvetica.
