Other Site Characteristics

Vasta conca glaciale facente parte del bacino idrografico del torrente Fersina, completamente invasa dalla vegetazione delle torbiere di transizione (prati galleggianti); fino a pochi anni fà era quivi sviluppato il più vasto "aggallato" di tutto il Trentino. A seguito dello scavo della torba, al centro del bacino è oggi presente un vasto specchio d'acqua. La vegetazione è rappresentata dai residui della vegetazione dell'aggallato, mentre nelle vasche di escavazione della torba si è diffusa la ninfea. Sono presenti habitat di particolare interesse non compresi nell'all.I della direttiva 92/43/CEE, in particolare: Alnetea glutinosae (5%).

4.2 Quality and importance

L'interesse è dovuto all'aggallato con la vegetazione delle torbiere di transizione. Il sito è inoltre di rilevante importanza per la nidificazione, la sosta e/o lo svernamento di specie di uccelli protette o in forte regresso, e/o a distribuzione localizzata sulle Alpi.
