Other Site Characteristics

Caratteristico colle di forma rotonda, che si erge presso Trento nella Valle dell'Adige, formato di calcari dell'eocene, delimitato quasi su tutti i lati da pareti calcaree verticali e da cengie; la vegetazione è data da boschi di caducifoglie termofile (il Doss Trento è il "locus classicus" dell'associazione Orno-Ostryetum), mentre sulle cengie sono presenti lembi di praterie aride, a impronta steppica sui versanti a nord e submediterranea su quelli a sud. Sono presenti habitat di particolare interesse non compresi nell'all.I della direttiva 92/43/CEE, in particolare: boschi dell'Orno-Ostryetum (locus classicus) (60%).

4.2 Quality and importance

Sito di grande importanza ambientale, sia per le caratteristiche gemorfologiche che botaniche e faunistiche, molto rappresentativo per gli ecosistemi forestali del piano collinare. Il sito è inoltre di rilevante importanza per la nidificazione, la sosta e/o lo svernamento di specie di uccelli protette o in forte regresso, e/o a distribuzione localizzata sulle Alpi. Presenza di invertebrati dei boschi di latifoglie del piano basale in buone condizioni di naturalità.
