Other Site Characteristics

Classico massiccio dolomitico (con presenza di importanti filoni basaltici), costituito da un esteso altipiano solcato verso sud dalla profonda incisione della selvaggia Valsorda. Allo spoglio altipiano si contrappongono i versanti ripidi, in parte occupati da estese pareti. La fascia boscata viene solo parzialmente interessata dal sito.

4.2 Quality and importance

Di particolare interesse floristico e vegetazionale risultano i punti di contatto tra la dolomia ed i basalti, dove si rinviene un certo numero di entità rare. Per il resto si tratta di un significativo esempio di massiccio dolomitico. Il sito è di rilevante interesse nazionale e/o provinciale per la presenza e la riproduzione di specie animali in via di estinzione, importanti relitti glaciali, esclusive e/o tipiche delle Alpi.
