Other Site Characteristics

Il sito interessa il versante settentrionale della catena calcarea M. remalzo-M. Caplone tra il crinale e il Torrente Palvico. L'area, molto vasta ed articolata, comprende la forra della Val Lorina, le scoscese pinete rupestri dei versanti più aridi, le abetine ed i boschi di forra degli ambienti più freschi, i pascoli pingui della conca di Tremalzo e le aree erboso-rupestri delle creste e delle vette. Sono presenti habitat di particolare interesse non compresi nell'all.I della direttiva 92/43/CEE: Abieteti (10%), Sottoroccia (1%).

4.2 Quality and importance

Sito di straordinario interesse floristico per l'eccezionale concentrazione di specie endemiche, noto in tutta Europa e meta obbligata di escursioni botaniche. Ancora frequenti gli ambienti selvaggi e poco antropizzati. Il sito è di rilevante interesse nazionale e/o provinciale per la presenza e la riproduzione di specie animali in via di estinzione, importanti relitti glaciali, esclusive e/o tipiche delle Alpi.
