Other Site Characteristics

Massiccio granitico del Trentino occidentale con ghiacciai e grandi depositi morenici, laghetti alpini, vasti accumuli detritici; ad oriente i versanti del massiccio si fanno sempre meno acclivi, per cui sono presenti torbiere e lembi di foreste di conifere su torba. La vegetazione é formata da foreste di latifoglie (faggete) e di conifere (abete rosso e larice, con nuclei di pino cembro); sopra il limite del bosco sono diffusi ovunque pascoli alpini e brughiere subalpine.

Esempio di gruppo montuoso cristallino ricco di ghiacciai, cordoni morenici, laghetti alpini e ampli versanti boscosi, interrotti da radure prative. Il sito è di rilevante interesse nazionale e/o provinciale per la presenza e la riproduzione di specieanimali in via di estinzione, importanti relitti glaciali, esclusive e/o tipiche delle Alpi.
