Ex cave di argilla abbandonate sulle quali si è ricostituita in parte una vegetazione naturale idro-igrofila sia erbacea che nemorale.

4.2 Quality and importance

Si tratta di una delle pochissime stazioni in cui è presente l'Utricularietum australis (Gaggio N) e l'aggr. aTypha laxmannii (Gaggio S). Diffusi inoltre tipi vegetazionali in via di scomparsa come i lamineti(Myriophyllo-Nupharetum) e cariceti (Caricetum elatae, Caricetum ripariae). Presenza di entità in via discomparsa. Importante area di sosta migratoria per ardeidi, anatidi, rallidi, caradiformi. Area di nidificazioneper Pavoncella e Corriere piccolo. Importanti presenze entomologiche.
