Other Site Characteristics

Esempio tipico di territorio montano interno a quote basse, con paesaggio mosaicato tra foreste, prati ed arbusteti. Ci sono esemplari monumentali di roverella in filare o isolati e siepi. Presenti numerosi piccoli stagni di frana e alcune plaghe calanchive. La morfologia accidentata favorisce alternaza di ambienti centroeuropei e mediterranei.

4.2 Quality and importance

Le praterie ospitano una ricca fioritura di orchidee, mentre i differenti microclimi presenti consentono lo sviluppo di specie mediterranee (Hystrix cristata, Circaetus gallicus, Merops apiaster, Serapias neglecta, Erica arborea) accanto a specie montane centroeuropee (Accipiter gentilis, Scolopax rusticola, Anthus trivalis, Turdus philomelos, Fagus sylvatica, Dactylorhiza sambucina, Traunsteinera globosa). Gli habitat più rappresentativi sono i ginepreti e le lande a Calluna, intervallati a praterie aride ricche di orchidee e di avifauna che vi si alimenta. Il bosco, con castagneti e cerrete, presenta esempi di tilio-acereto di forra.
