Other Site Characteristics

Corso d'acqua di tipo mediterraneo, caratterizzato da ampio alveo sassoso. Sono presenti alcune aree relativamente indisturbate ed altre, di notevole pregio paesaggistico, utilizzate per la balneazione.

4.2 Quality and importance

L'area presenta numerose specie ornitiche rare e minacciate, nidificanti e svernanti, di tipo steppico (particolarmente importante la popolazione di Burhinus oedicnemus) ed è utilizzata per l'alimentazione da svariate specie di rapaci e per la sosta da limicoli. Tra gli Anfibi e presente il Triturus carnifex, endemismo italiano. Fra gli invertebrati, di rilievo la presenza del Lepidottero Callimorpha quadripunctaria (nec quadripunctata!).
