Other Site Characteristics

Area sub-montana prevalentemente boscata con appezzamenti sparsi di colture, modesti impianti di conifere e piccole aree a pascolo. L'area è caratterizzata da estesi fenomeni carsici con formazione di numerose cavità naturali, nella parte orientale vi sono affioramenti di ofioliti.

4.2 Quality and importance

Area con un buon livello di naturalità diffusa ad elevata biodiversità di specie e di habitat. Da segnalare la presenza di predatori specializzati come Circaetus gallicus. Da segnalare, fra gli Anfibi, la presenza del Triturus carnifex, specie endemica italiana, e fra gli Invertebrati di alcune specie endemiche.
