Area montuosa situata nelle pendici del Monte Amiata a substrato eterogeneo quasi interamente coperta da boschi naturali e impianti di conifere.

4.2 Quality and importance

Di notevole valore forestale, comprende fitocenosi molto evolute e ricche in specie mesofile, alcune delle quali endemiche dei boschi centro-appenninici. Struttura e stabilità dinamica notevoli; alcune cenosi sono da ritenersi prossime alla fase climax.
