Rilievi collinari calcarei con vegetazione degradata dalle passate attività antropiche (incendio e pascolo).

4.2 Quality and importance

Garighe e macchie xerocalcicole con larga partecipazione di terofite, geofite, camefite eumediterranee, che rappresentano ottimamente la vegetazione mediterranea degradata su substrato calcareo roccioso. Significativa consentrazione di stazioni isolate di piante rare diffuse più a meridione. Presenza di alcune specie ornitiche rare che nidificano nelle zone aperte (Circus pygargus). Da segnalare la presenza del Mammifero predatore Felis silvestris. Fra gli invertebrati sono presenti alcuni Coleotteri endemici della Toscana. Da segnalare la Presenza del Lepidottero Callimorpha quadripunctaria (nec quadripunctata!).
