Other Site Characteristics

Rilievo calcareo dove gli habitat segnalati con codice sono costituiti da: formazioni rupestri a Buxus sempervirens (5110); arbusteti a Juniperus communis (5130), riferiti all'ordine Prunetalia spinosae; pascoli dell'alleanza Phleio ambigui-Bromion erecti (6210); boschi di Quercus ilex (9340) inquadrabili nelle associazioni Orno-Quercetum ilicis e Cephalanthero-Quercetum ilicis. Nell'area sono presenti, inoltre, boschi di Ostrya carpinifolia, dell'alleanza Laburno-Ostryon ed estesi arbusteti a Cytisus scoparius che interessano i rilievi semipianeggianti carsici più elevati

4.2 Quality and importance

Questo sito si contraddistingue per la presenza di un'estesa lecceta, mista con caducifoglie, tra le meglio conservate (con nuclei di fustaia) e più rappresentative (dal punto di vista floristico) dell'Umbria. Tali boschi costituiscono un ottimo esempio di vegetazione a sclerofille sempreverdi con caducifoglie, aspetto tipico delle leccete interne appenniniche. Tra la fauna è stato segnalato Buteo buteo, Falco tinnunculus e Sitta europaea (poco comuni), Lepus europaeus (fondamentale nella catena alimentare dell'aquila reale) e Mustela putorius (specie vulnerabile e rara).
