Other Site Characteristics

Rilievo calcareo prevalentemente ricoperto da boschi di sclerofille sempreverdi misti con caducifoglie, dove gli habitat segnalati con codice sono rappresentati da: stazioni di Buxus sempervirens (5110), pascoli aridi attribuiti all'associazione Asperulo purpureae-Brometum erecti (6210) e boschi di Quercus ilex, inquadrati nell'associazione Orno-Quercetum ilicis (9340) e nella subassociazione Orno-Quercetum ilicis pinetosum halepensis (9540).

4.2 Quality and importance

Questo sito si contraddistingue per la presenza di una estesa lecceta (in buona parte con alberi secolari) tra le meglio conservate e più rappresentative (dal punto di vista forestale e floristico) dell' Umbria. Tali boschi costituiscono, infatti, un ottimo esempio di lecceta appenninica mista con caducifoglie. All'interno dei boschi è presente Monotropa hypopitys, specie rara a livello nazionale. Tra la fauna è stato segnalato anche Accipiter nisus (specie rara), Buteo buteo, Muscicapa striata e Sylvia melanocephala (specie poco comuni).
