Apparato vulcanico vulsino, bacino della caldera profondità massima 150m ca. e rilievi della caldera.

4.2 Quality and importance

Sito ad elevato valore naturalistico per la presenza di ittiofauna diversificata ed abbondante e di una ricca avifauna svernante, importante per la nidificazione del nibbio bruno (Milvus migrans) e del gabbiano reale (Larus cachinnans michaelis): di quest'ultimo si tratta dell'unica stazione interna dell'Italia peninsulare. Presenza di Najas minor All. specie rara per il Lazio.
