Il sito è contiguo a sito della Regione Abruzzo. Calcari di mare poco profondo calcari organogeni ecalcareniti; detriti di falda.

Area di estremo interesse naturalistico nazionale con presenza di elevata ricchezza di specie fra tutti i gruppi zoologici e di numerose specie floristiche endemiche, minacciate e vulnerabili, nonchè di habitat prioritari. Proposto come ZPS.
