Other Site Characteristics

Il territorio del sito è coperto in gran parte da coltivazioni erbacee che occupano l'area retrodunale della bonifica Ramitelli, a mosaico con aree agro-forestali e praterie e pascoli. La linea di costa e le due ospitano numerosi habitat di interesse comunitario tra cui la macchia a ginepri dunali estremamente rara lungo il litorale adriatico italiano. Ben rappresentati gli habitat delle dune embrionali e dune mobili. GEOLOGIA: sabbie di spiagge. SUOLI: entisuoli xeropsammens. CLIMA: regione mediterranea termotipo mesomediterraneo inferiore, ombrotipo subumido inferiore.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito presenta un elevato grado di conservazione e naturalità per gli habitat rilevati. Costituisce, nel complesso, un'area ecologicamente importante per molte specie di ornitofauna e per Testudo hermanni ed Emys orbicularis, quest' ultime specie in declino nel territorio molisano.

Progetto di ricerca per la cartografia CORINE LAND COVER e la distribuzione nei siti Natura2000 del Molise degli habitat e delle specie vegetali ed animali di interesse comunitario, realizzato dalla Società Botanica Italiana.
