Alimini Grande rappresenta un ambiente lagunare originatosi per chiusura di una antica insenatura, mentre Fontanelle è un vero e proprio laghetto alimentato da polle sorgive sotterranee. La presenza dei "laghi" contribuisce a creare un microclima caldo-umido. Pregevoli lembi di macchia mediterranea con Quercus calliprinos ed Erica manipuliflora.

4.2 Quality and importance

Stagni costieri retrodunali di grande interesse naturalistico circondati da vegetazione alofila definita habitat prioritario e da pregevoli lembi di macchia mediterranea. Vi è la presenza di Boschi di Quercia spinosa con percentuale 3 di copertura e con valutazioni rispettivamente: A, A, B, A e la presenza di Garighe di Erica manipuliflora con percentuale di copertura 2 e valutazioni rispettivamente: A, A, B, A.
