Other Site Characteristics

La vegetazione potenziale dellarea è rappresentata da querceti caducifogli termofili inquadrabili nei Quercetea ilicis . La specie prevalente è Quercus virgiliana, quercia che appartiene al ciclo di Q. pubescens (roverella). Essa caratterizza una formazione forestale poco disturbata, in cui si riscontrano numerose specie caratteristiche dei boschi termofili (Cornus sanguinea, Clinopodium vulgare, Brachypodium sylvaticum, Knautia calycina, Helleborus bocconei ecc.). Il fondovalle è caratterizzato da un boschetto ripariale a Populus alba inquadrabile nellordine Populetalia albae. In alcune aree dellOrto si conservano aspetti di vegetazione caratterizzata dalla presenza di prati umidi che si estendono al margine del bosco, che nel periodo invernale sono inondati e che ospitano specie quali Isoetes durieui e Isoetes hystrix. Tali formazioni sono inquadrabili nella classe Isoeto-Nanojuncetea .
