Other Site Characteristics

E' delimitato ad ovest dal cordone litorale di Terra Sarina, A sud dallo stagno di Baiocca e a nord-est e sud-est da terrazzi alluvionali. La profondità non supera i 50 cm. E' collegato allo stagno di Baiocca per mezzo di canali di bonifica, ed entrambi i bacini ricevono acque dalla piana alluvionale. Il collegamento col mare è assicurato da un canale artificiale e il livello delle acque è mantenuto costante da un sistema di chiuse.

4.2 Quality and importance

I diversi interventi di bonifica non hanno alterato se non in parte, l'antica fisionomia e morfologia del sito consentendo una strutturazione della vegetazione alofila localmente ben delineata e chiara. I bacini lacustri occupati da praterie a Ruppia sp.pl. e Entheromorpha intestinalis, le steppe salate che circoscrivono i bacini conferiscono al sito un'ottima qualità naturalistica.
