Other Site Characteristics

The territory of the park is crossed by about 30 rivers and rivulets, there are 46 lakes with total area of 232 ha. Waterways of the site belong to the basin of the Nemunas River. About 78% of the total area is covered by forests (49800 ha). About 85% of the total forest area consist of pine stands. The agricultural landscape predominated between the woodland. Marshes are concentrated in the southern part of the Park. The Imskai raised bog is one of the largest in eastern Lithuania and covers nearly 1000 ha.

4.2 Quality and importance

Important breeding sites of Tetrao urogalus, Tetrao tetrix, Aegolius funereus, Caprimulgus europaeus, Coracias garrulus, Lulula arborea threatened at the European Union level.
