Other Site Characteristics

Site includes eutrophic lakes (Sauka, Bukuzis and Lielais Klauces lakes) surrounded by Alnus glutinosa swamps and Alnus incana, Salix alba forests. Agricultural lands, orchards occupy large areas. Relief is undulated with many hills. Scatttered farmsteads.

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying features are Natural eutrophic lakes (3150), Alluvial forests (91E0). Qualifying species are Triturus cristatus, Lutra lutra, Cobitis taenia, Agrimonia pilosa. Site of high scenic value due to spectacular hilly relief. Holds typical disperse bird species but else provides no special ornithological interest.
