Other Site Characteristics

Site includes Dolessala island in Daugava River, Riga City. Dry pine forest dominate there. Also agricultural land, fishponds and scattered farmsteads are found. At the river bank dolomite outcrops occur.

4.2 Quality and importance

Qualifying features are 8210* Calcareous rocky slopes with chasmophytic vegetation and 6430 Hydrophilous tall herb fringe communities. Qualifying species are Pulsatilla patens and Osmoderma eremita. Supports a number of nationally rare plant and invertebrate species.
