Other Site Characteristics

Site includes three lakes (Laukezers, Baltins and Ildzenieku) and coniferous forests on eskers. Transitional mires, Cladium mariscus stands and mixed forests are also found.

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying features are 3130 Oligotrophic to mesotrophic standing waters with vegetatyion of the Littorelletea uniflorae and/or of the Isoeto-Nanojuncetea, 3150 Natural eutrophic lakes with, 9060 Coniferous forests on, or connected to, glaciofluvial eskers and 7140 Transitional mires and quaking bogs. Qualifying species are Thesium ebracteatum, Pulsatilla patens, Liparis loeselii and Hamatocaulis vernicosus. One of few localities of Cladium mariscus in eastern Latvia.
