Other Site Characteristics

Site includes Lielupe River valley with dolomite outcrops. Meadows, agricultural lands and human settlements including Old town of Bauska City are also located within the site. D - Red Data book of Latvia

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying feature is 8210 Calcareous rocky slopes with chasmophytic vegetation. The best site for this habitat in Latvia.Qualifying species are Cobitis taenia, Cottus gobio, Aspius aspius, Lampetra fluviatilis.
