Other Site Characteristics

Site is located at the Riga Gulf and includes marine area and different coastal habitats like dunes, drift lines etc. More landwards grasslands, human settlements, dry coniferous forests and black alder swamps occur. D - Red Data Book of Latvia

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying features are Vegetated sea cliffs of the Atlantic and Baltic coasts (1230), Large shallow inlets and bays (1160), Perennial vegetation of stony banks (1220), Lowland hay meadows (6510) and Annual vegetation of drift lines (1210). Qualifying species are Lutra lutra and Cypripedium calceolus. The only place in Latvia hosting Vegetated sea cliffs of the Baltic coasts (1230). Not important from point of view of mammals. Not important for fishes. Importance for birds obviously rather low and perhaps limited to woodpeckers.
