Other Site Characteristics

Site includes different mire habitats surrounded by bog woodland and fragments of black alder swamps. On mineral soils broadleaved forests are found. D - Red Data Book of Latvia and very rare species in Latvia .

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying features are Active raised bogs (7110*), Transitional mires and quaking bogs (7140), Bog woodland (91D0*) and Fennoscandian natural old broadleaved forests (9020*). Hosts a number of nationally rare invertebrate species, including Saperda punctata (previous records in Latvia only in 1824).
