Other Site Characteristics

Site represents ravine relief along Dubupite River. Mainly mixed broad-leaved forests with Quercus robur, Ulmus glabra, U. leavis, Tilia cordata and Acer platanoides cover the ravines. Separate small lakes are found in the site. D - species of Red Data Book of Latvia and Woodland Key habitats

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying feature is Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines (9180*). One of the deepest ravines in the eastern part of Latvia. Qualifying species - Dicranum viride and Osmoderma eremita. Hosts many nationally rare plant and animal species. Slope forests with abundance of old trees and dead wood, though site is too small to be of high importance for bird conservation.
