Other Site Characteristics

Site includes cut over bog (Seda Mire) surrounded by mixed and coniferous forests and small fragments of agriculture lands. At the Seda River transitional mire has developed. The area includes fishponds and open water areas on abandoned peat fields, Salix spp. stands and reed beds. Peat extraction is still taking place in a part of the site. Qualifying species of mammals are Lutra lutra and Castor fiber. D - species of Red Data Book of Latvia.

4.2 Quality and importance

Qualifying features are 6450 Northern Boreal alluvial meadows, 7140 Tranistional mires and quaking bogs, and 91D0* Bog woodland. Qualifying species are Lutra lutra and Leucorrhinia pectoralis.Site mainly of ornithological importance.
