Other Site Characteristics

Site includes floodplain meadows and lowland hay meadows at Lielupe River.

4.2 Quality and importance

Part of IBA "Kalnciems meadows and Odini fields". At least 7 Annex I bird species recorded during 2002, the most important for the particular territory are Spotted Crake Porzana porzana (at least 5 pairs), Corncrake Crex crex (13-15 pairs, high breeding density) and Montague's Harrier Circus pygargus. Qualifying features are 6450 Northern Boreal alluvial meadows and 6510 Lowland hay meadows.
