Other Site Characteristics

Site includes four grassland areas located in Lielupe River floodplains close to the Gulf of Riga.

4.2 Quality and importance

Qualifying features are 1630* Boreal Baltic coastal meadows, 6450 Northern boreal alluvial meadows, 6410 Molinia meadows on calcareous, peaty or clayey-silt-laden soils (Molinion caeruleae), 6430 Hydrophilous tall herb fringe communities of plains and of the montane to alpine belts and 6510 Lowland hay meadows. Qualifying species is Angelica palustris. Hosts many nationally rare plant species. The most important breeding bird species with significant population is Corncrake Crex crex.
