Other Site Characteristics

Flood-plain meadows along Uzava river in its upper reaches, this part of the river basin is the least affected by drainage and channelisation that heavily degraded its course elsewhere during the 20th century.

4.2 Quality and importance

Qualifying features are 6450 Northern Boreal alluvial meadows and 6230* Species-rich Nardus grasslands. Site comprises the most valuable part, from conservation point of view, of the important bird area LV008 Uzava meadows. It is notable for the high breeding density of Crex crex and quality of flood-plain grassland habitats.
