A polder landscape including a shallow lake, numerous ditches, wet meadows xxx and marshland, situated to the north of the city of Zaandam.

4.2 Quality and importance

The following data refer to the period 1993-1997 (data in paragraph 3.2a-b refer te period 1999-2003). Species meeting the 1% threshold (non-breeding): Eurasian Spoonbill Platalea leucorodia (1%), Eurasian Wigeon Anas [Mareca] penelope (1%), Black-tailed Godwit Limosa limosa (2%). xxx One of the five most important sites for (breeding): Ruff Philomachus pugnax. xxx Site included in IBA070 (IBA2000).
