Other Site Characteristics

O Sítio Cabeção é caracterizado por uma planície levemente ondulada sobre solos arenosos, onde o coberto vegetal é essencialmente constituído por montados de sobro bem conservados, ocorrendo também algum montado de azinho, aos quais está associada uma utilização pecuária extensiva. Alberga uma significativa comunidade de aves associada ao montado de sobro.

4.2 Quality and importance

O Sítio Cabeção assume um papel muito relevante para a conservação de Halimium verticillatum, albergando grande parte dapopulação global desta espécie na sua extensa área de montado (6310), onde é igualmente favorecida a presença do rato deCabrera (Microtus cabrerae). Saliente-se também a presença de charcos temporários mediterrânicos (3170*) e de urzais-tojais higrófilos e termófilos de Erica ciliaris (4020*), neste caso com a presença adicional de Erica erigena. Esta paisagem é cortada por alguns vales aplanados, onde se podem observar bosques ripícolas, sobretudo salgueirais (92A0).
