  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

Other Site Characteristics

The bedrock is Precambrian and the soiltypes are mainly varved clay. Some smaller areas are dominated by sandy till and postglacial clay. This site is dominated by coniferous woods, arable land and mixed woodland characterized by oak, spruce and aspen. Large lagoons with gloes and flads are dominating the site. The flads are characterized by Chara-vegetation. Some of the mixed woods (those that mainly consist of oak and aspen) are characterized by a herbaceous fieldlayer with species that are associated with calcareous soils. Most of the vegetation is distinguished by acidophilous conditions. Small pastures with a rich meadow flora are located around the only farm that still is in use. Within the site there is a good part of the narrow inlet Nynäsviken. In Nynäsviken most of the islets and some shallow sheltered aeras occur in this site. For more details see SE0110393.

4.2 Quality and importance

This site is well known for some good examples of western taiga and very large gloes and flads. There is also an interesting flora of epiphyts on old oak and former pollarded ash. In the costal brackish-water environment fresh water predator fish-species are important ecological factors. During the recent decade these species have been affected by reproductive disorder in large parts of the Stockholm archipelago. These problems have not affected Nynäsviken. Species like pike, pikeperch and perch are found in healthy stocks in the site. Even whitefish, tench and different dabs occurs.
