Other Site Characteristics

Brokind is a nature reserve consisting of three different areas in the Oak District south of Linköping in Östergötland. The landscape in the nature reserve is flat to slightly hilly in the two areas in the north while the southern area at Halls berg consist of a steep side of a crevice. The dominating habitat in Brokind is old deciduous forest with Quercus robur. Some smaller areas with deciduous forest, ravines, steeps and coniferous forest are found in the reserve. A lot of dead wood are found throughout the reserve. Fauna and flora in the area varied with a lot of rare and threatened species. The bedrock in the area consist of granite and the earth deposits are dominated by clay and moraine.

4.2 Quality and importance

The nature reserve of Brokind is a very important part of the Oak District of Östergötland. The content of different species is high and characteristic for the habitat.
