  • PF: for the habitat types that can have a non-priority as well as a priority form (6210, 7130, 9430) enter "X" in the column PF to indicate the priority form.
  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

Sund is situated in the southern part of the county of Östergötland. The surrounding landscape is characterized by larger and smaller crevises in the bedrock. In the surrounding area a mosaic of small farms and coniferous forest are found. The site Sund is lying on slopes down to the lake Stora Sundsjön, parts of the slope is relatively steep. The site contains pastures with old, large and hollow trees of Quercus robur. The bedrock in the site consist of granite and porphyry. The loose sediments are dominated by sand and gravel that were sedimented at the end of the last ice-age. By that time big ice-blocks from a glacier were standing at the bottom of the valley. The river with melting water from the glacier transported material that sedimented on the slopes around the ice-block. The site includes pastures with old, large and hollow trees of Quercus robur. The fauna and flora of the pastures are rich with for example the rare specie Osmoderma eremita. A number of rare lichens are found in the pastures as well. The site with surrounding includes high values for history of culture with ancient monuments.

4.2 Quality and importance

The pastures with oak at Sund are very valueable. Both the fauna and the flora of the area holds very high biological values with a number of rare and threatened species.

6.3 Conservation measures (optional)

The main purpose of the site is to maintain the high biological values connected with the old and hollow oak-trees. It is important that the site also in the future are grassed and that more closed parts of the pastures are cleared up.
