Other Site Characteristics

Tyttorp - is situated in hilly surroundings in the northern woodlands of Östergötland. There are open cultivated fields around the farm and where they end grazing land begins. There is a large rock and boulder rich juniper-clad pasture. The junipers are high (3-5 metres) and grow spread all over the pasture. Hazel shrubs, wild apple and young birch form groves. The bush layer becomes thicker on top of the hill. Also aspen, ash, oak, and maple grow here. The ground layer vegetation is dominated by a dry meadow flora, rich in species. Great numbers of plants favoured by haymaking and grazing grow everywhere, different species depending on the thickness of the soil layer.

4.2 Quality and importance

Tyttorp is a very valueable site with a large number of characteristic species represented in the pasture. There are also cultural values at the site. Tyttorp has only a few similarities in Östergötland and is on the list of the national conservation plan for the agricultural landscape.
