Other Site Characteristics

Brommö skärgård präglas av ett spricksystem i NV-SO-lig riktning. Berggrunden består framför allt av gnejs. Höjdskillnaderna i området är små. Det täcks av moränavlagningar men det är de sandiga jordarna som sätter sin prägel på landskapet. Vidsträckta sandstränder förekommer på flera ställen och på nordvästra Brommö finns de största flygsanddynor som hittats i Vänerområdet. Fastmarksvegetationen domineras av hällmarkstallskog. Bladvassar förekommer i vikar och på grundområden. Tydlig zonering av strandvegetationen kan iaktas på flera ställen. Området är en intressant fågellokal och älgforskningsobjekt.

Ingår i riksintresse för naturvård. Värdefull Vänerskärgård med de största flygsanddyner som hittats i Vänerområdet. Skyddat med stöd av naturvårdslagen.
